The Order Has Changed 3 by Nandita Chaudhuri

Nandita Chaudhuri is a British Indian artist based in London. Having been displaced from her earlier years in India up to the 1990’s, and then finding home in the UK, Chaudhuri’s works have a distinct transnational context. This is often suggested through choice of objects in her collages, everyday ephemera from newspaper cuttings and pins to steel wire, and through the free-flowing lines and floating compositions.

In Chaudhuri’s own words: “My works explore and re-engage with various deep impressions and stored images snatched from life. Instances and nuances have been greedily devoured and etched into stored imprints and now they must find their way somehow into legible or illegible forms. They are gathered together as memories—fleeting, hiding, and staring, as they rush to emote through brush and paint.”

Chaudhuri works with a mix of different techniques and has developed her own multi-media style. Her works are expressive of her life and have a visual and textured three-dimensionality to them. Her creative process is non-conformist and liberating, often working on a large scale.
